Car care tips
TIP # 1. WINTER FLUIDS Always use the proper grade of oil in your engine
during the winter months. Manufacturers usually recommend a lower
viscosity oil for colder starts.
Anti-freeze coolant should be clean and strong enough to handle cold
temperatures to prevent freeze up and possibly expensive damage to your
engine. Your windshield washer fluid must contain a de-icer!
You should keep an extra jug of coolant in your vehicle at all times.
TIP # 2. FUEL ECONOMY A poorly maintained engine can burn 50 percent more
fuel than required. Make sure your vehicle is tuned-up for maximum
efficiency! Tire inflation is critical as pressure will drop in the cold
months causing poor fuel economy. If your emergency brakes are not working
properly, they could be causing resistance, slowing you down and burning
unnecessary fuel. Have them checked the next time your bring your car in
for service.
TIP # 3. WINTER DRIVING Have your battery and electrical system tested to
ensure your car starts each and every time-all winter! Make sure those
tires have plenty of tread and are inflated to the correct pressure for
maximum handling. Also, a roadside assistance kit is very helpful in the
event that you do have a break-down on the side of the road! Be prepared
all winter long.
TIP # 4. WIPER BLADES Wiper blades are the key for clearing our path of
vision to ensure our safety on the road! They take a beating! Rain, snow,
sleet, ice, and the sun's ultra violet rays all work to destroy your wiper
blades. The rubber becomes damaged so they need to be replaced every 6
months. Don't compromise your vision when you are on the road.
